Workshop of EIC Autumn 2019 Conference in Helsinki

Helsinki. The EIC Autumn Workshop 2019 took place on 11 October in Helsinki by invitation of EIC’s Finnish member federation CFCI. The workshop treated the topic of construction as a catalyst for urban concentration and it featured an exceptionally high-level speaker roster. Presentations included views from policy-centred, research-focused but also administrative, entrepreneurial and engineering perspectives.

The two workshop sessions were expertly moderated by Juha Kostiainen (YIT) and Sami Pakarinen (CFI). Presentations and discussions were held by representatives of the European Commission, Finnish Government, McKinsey, Research Institute of the Finnish Economy (ETLA), Imperial College London, Incheon Smart-City Corp. and FinEst Bay Area Project.

Change is happening now

Governments, contractors and citizens all over the world are faced with challenges that arise from of urban concentration. Goal-oriented investment and awareness for current demographic and environmental development lay the foundation for improved planning and design of liveable urban zones and sustainable infrastructure.
Case studies form Espoo, Finland and Songdo, Korea, have demonstrated how dramatically quality of life can be improved through a consequent and community-focused implementation of current scientific findings.
