EIC GA elects Benoît Chauvin // Colas as new president
Berlin, 07. October 2020. EIC´s first-ever virtual General Assembly held on 1st October 2020 has elected Benoît Chauvin, Senior Vice President Business Development at French Contractor Colas Group, as new EIC President. Mr. Chauvin will be serving a two year president´s term.
Benoît Chauvin was born in 1959. He received his engineering diploma from Ecole spéciale des Travaux publics, du Bâtiment et de l´Industrie in 1982 and furthermore graduated from Institut Français du Pétrole (IFP). Before his engagement for Colas Group in 2012, he was CEO and PDG at Sofresid Engineering and Director for Engineering, Process and Major Projects for Saipem and Bouygues Offshore.
Benoît Chauvin succeeds Philippe Dessoy, General Manager Business Development at Besix, who held his office since 2015. The virtual General Assembly elected Philippe Dessoy as Vice President and confirmed Juha Kostiainen, Executive Vice President Urban Development at Finnish contractor YIT Corporation, in his position as Treasurer.
The composition of the extended current EIC Board is: Karl-Heinz Strauss (Porr, Austria), Jesper Arkil (Arkil, Denmark), Jörg Wellmeyer (Strabag, Germany), Zoe Lisaridou (Avax, Greece), Matteo d´Aloja (Ghella, Italy), José Pedro Freitas (Mota Engil, Portugal), Juan Elizaga (Ferrovial, Spain), Nils Bjelm (NCC, Sweden), German Grüniger (Implenia, Switzerland), Wouter Remmelts (BAM International, The Netherlands) and Başar Arioğlu (Yapı Merkezi, Turkey).
Context: With Coronavirus cases increasing again in recent weeks in European countries and throughout the world, this was EIC´s first ever virtual Assembly, as it was not possible to organise the EIC Autumn Conference including the General Assembly and the Workshop in the format of a physical gathering.
