FIEC and EIC, in collaboration with their Belgian Member Federation, Embuild, are pleased to welcome you to the Joint FIEC-EIC Spring 2024 Conference in Brussels with a Workshop on:

FIEC-EIC Recommendations for the EU Term 2024-2029

The year 2024 will inevitably bring changes in EU-level politics. Following the next EU elections in June 2024, there will be a new composition of the European Parliament, new Commissioners, the possibility of a new Commission President, and a new President of the European Council.

Ahead of the EU elections FIEC has launched its "Construction Manifesto for action” for the next EU term 2024-2029, which comprises 10 key messages to the MEP candidates, including a chapter on building a level playing field for European international contractors. The objective of this joint FIEC-EIC Spring 2024 Conference & Workshop is to inform the EU policymakers about the FIEC-EIC recommendations for the EU term 2024 – 2029 and to discuss with them the priorities for the construction sector for the next five years.

The event will take place in Brussels, the capital of Belgium and the “de facto capital of Europe”, having a long history of hosting the official seats of the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, and the European Council, as well as one of the two seats of the European Parliament. Brussels is also since 1967 the political and administrative centre of the NATO alliance. Finally, our joint event will take place during the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council.

Aside from its political and economic importance, Brussels is a vibrating town full of art and rich of cultural highlights. You will appreciate its excellent and multicultural cuisine and gastronomic offers, including its local waffle, its chocolate, its French fries, and its numerous types of beers. The city centre is full of historical and architectural landmarks, such as the historic Grand-Place/Grote Markt, the Manneken Pis, the Atomium, and cultural institutions such as La Monnaie/De Munt and a renowned and diversified museum landscape. Due to its long tradition of Belgian comics, Brussels is also hailed as a capital of the comic strip.

Enjoy your stay!
