Benvenuti a Roma –
Welcome to Rome

European International Contractors and its Italian Member Federation ANCE welcome you to the EIC Spring Conference 2020 in Rome with a workshop on

China’s Belt and Road Initiative – What is the European Perspective?

Since the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) began in 2013, 126 countries and 56 international organisations across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and South America have successively signed cooperation agreements with China to participate in this huge investment scheme. BRI projects are estimated to add over US$ 1 trillion of outward funding for foreign infrastructure, such as ports, roads, railways and airports, over a 10-year period that started in 2017.

EIC’s Spring Workshop 2020 is dedicated to shedding a light on China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Speakers from China, from Multilateral Development Banks, from the European Union as well as from global consultancies and academia. They will share their perspective of this important programme and discuss whether it can present a win-win cooperation for European international contractors, too. The goal of the Workshop is to scrutinise the policy and financial drivers of the Belt and Road Initiative and to examine how this scheme might play out in the different world regions.

ANCE warmly welcomes you to Rome, the Eternal City, as the Roman poet Tibullus first called it. Rome has a history that spans over almost 28 centuries. It has been the capital of the Roman Kingdom, the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire, becoming the first ever Imperial City and metropolis. Roma was the beating heart of one of the most important ancient civilisations which significantly influenced society, culture, language, literature, art, architecture, philosophy, religion, law and customs all around the world . Today, it is one of the most visited cities in the world, still keeping its charm and beauty throughout the centuries.

Enjoy your stay!
