The Global Energy Transition – What Role for European International Contractors?

The global energy sector's shift from fossil-based systems of energy production and consumption to renewable energy sources is one of greatest challenges facing societies worldwide. Amidst complex geopolitical tensions, energy security concerns, scarce critical raw materials and the urgent need for rapid cuts in global emissions, there is no country or business model that won’t be profoundly affected by the transition to a net zero economy.

The objective of our EIC Autumn 2023 Workshop is to analyse the challenges to an orderly energy transition, scrutinise the reality of expectations around the various technological solutions like green hydrogen, offshore wind and nuclear technology that take center-stage in the future energy supply mix, and mapping the opportunities and role of for European International Contractors in the realisation of energy infrastructure in a changing global energy landscape.

A city with a rich maritime history, a free-spirited culture and a thriving business ecosystem full of innovation and creativity. Amsterdam is world-famous for its canals criss-crossing historic streets and monuments from the 17th century Golden Age, inspiring and must-see exhibitions and museums, unique places to visit and eat, as well as a vibrant nightlife.

Amsterdam is also a great mix of cultural hotspots, natural areas and modern urban developments. With the impressive redevelopment of the River IJ, Amsterdam's Waterfront, where the port of Amsterdam is being reintegrated into the historic city centre and where our meeting venue is located. Where hundreds of cargo sailing ships arrived every day during Amsterdam's Golden Age, nowadays the river is a never-ending parade of tiny dinghies, huge cruise ships and tall ships, glass-roofed excursion boats and cargo ships.
