EUROPEAN INTERNATIONAL CONTRACTORS WELCOMES YOU TO THE DIGITAL AUTUMN WORKSHOP ON:

‘A Vision for a more Sustainable and Resource-Efficient Construction Industry’

Dear Member,

On 14 July 2021, the European Commission adopted a package of proposals to make the EU's climate, energy, transport and taxation policies fit for reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 1990 levels. Achieving this level of emission reduction in the next decade is crucial to Europe becoming the world's first climate-neutral continent by 2050. Based on our initial discussions in Spring 2021, this year´s Autumn EIC Workshop convenes once again the expertise of Member Federations, Member Companies, Associated Company Members and industry partners to draft a comprehensive response for a more sustainable and resource-efficient construction industry.

As EIC, ENCORD and FIEC are developing a common Vision and Action Plan on how to drive decarbonisation in the construction sector, we observe that the issues involved, such as circularity, digitalisation, procurement, and new business models – to mention just a few – are highly complex and interwoven and there are many sizeable barriers to overcome for our highly fragmented sector. However, European international contractors accept a leadership responsibility along with their customers and suppliers to transform our sector and we are determined to reduce emissions while changing the mindset all over the value chain from customers to suppliers.

We look forward to continuing this very important journey towards a more sustainable, resource-efficient construction industry with you during our webinar on 12 November 2021, from 10:00 - 13:00 hrs. CET.
