New EIC Report on Corporate Responsibility

EIC published a Report on best practice in handling Corporate Responsibility (CR) matters in the international construction markets.

In recent years, CR has become an integral element in the global business landscape forming part of our companies’ social consciousness. Responsible business conduct towards employees, business partners, society and the environment is a core element of the value system of our companies.

“We have advanced as European international contractors to become front runners in this field, but recognise that improvements can always be made. Against this background, the new UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides inspiration and strategic direction for companies to live up to their CR goals in the light of the current global challenges”, said EIC President Philippe Dessoy.

EIC and its member companies look at CR obligations not just from a risk perspective, but also as business opportunities. With the new publication EIC wants to inform international clients, partners and all interested stakeholders about the respective achievements of European international contractors over the past years.

The report is structured around the four key topics “People, Planet, Prosperity and Good Governance” and highlights the various contributions by European international contractors to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It addresses the ten most important CR aspects relevant for the construction industry: Adapting to Climate Change, Business Ethics, Continuous Learning and Transfer of Know-how, Creating added value in communities, Engagement with Stakeholders, Greening Operations and Conserving Resources, Health & Safety, Human Rights
